Bill Trewin epitomizes what a real hero is: kind , thoughtful , patient , understanding , empathetic , inclusive , modest and ALWAYS giving of his time.
He has been a volunteer with the YMCA organization for countless years, including the Fredericton YMCA as a Board Member, and with the YMCA of Greater Moncton in multiple capacities. Here in Moncton, he has helped out with past events and areas such as our Community Food Bank, Homecoming Dance, Fantasy Night, Golf Tournaments, Battle of the Brains, the Resolution Run and Hypothermic Half Marathon (in conjunction with the Running Room), and much more.
Bill offers to assist for whatever task is needed and is often the first person to sign up for events whenever the call goes out! Dave Theriault, Volunteer Coordinator for the YMCA of Greater Moncton says, “Bill’s character is a true representation of what the Y stands for. He is dedicated to helping his community in any way he can.”
These examples are only some of the work he has done in the Greater Moncton community. Some hero’s are known to us as either sport’s players or superficial characters, but Bill is our hero. He has a willingness to help friends, neighbours and strangers by demonstrating through his actions and words that volunteering is rewarding and does make a difference. His kindness and understanding touches peoples’ lives without him even knowing it.
